Modern Trousseau...exciting and elegant!

Hello friends! I have been so busy here at The Bride's Room that I haven't been able to update the blog in a few days! So sorry to disappear! But, I am back with some fabulous finds for you. Today I am going to introduce you to one of my absolute favorite designers out there. Modern Trousseau is a fabulous, feminine collection of bridal gowns. With an emphasis on lace, they design for the sophisticated, elegant bride.

While at market in April, I had the pleasure to meet with Callie Tein, the designer of Modern Trousseau, at their new showroom in the Garment District. I was completely blown away by Callie and her whole team. They are such sweet people! But, the star of the show was the new Fall 2011 collection. All I can say is wow! Such gorgeous detailing and fabulous gowns! It was love at first sight!

One of the best things about Modern Trousseau is the attention of detail. Yes, the gowns are spectacular, but it is all of the little things that come together to make the gown dazzlingly perfect. Looking to spice up a very classic gown...and a belt from their collection. From colored sashes to flowers to jeweled belts worthy of a queen, Modern Trousseau has what you are looking for. Getting married in the winter and you want a cute shrug? Modern Trousseau has various fur shrugs and wraps that you can choose from!

And if you love lace...this is your designer! The use of lace in these gowns is truly stunning! Take a look at a few pictures below to see for yourself!

I adore the elegance of this dress

The combination of satin and lace is perfect - and the sash at the waist will slim every bride that tries it on

The bodice of this gown is a delicate lace accented with a soft tulle skirt

One of my favorite gowns from this season - and the deep back adds just the right amount of drama

I love the dotted tulle on this ball gown, so sweet

This dress is perfect for today's young bride - and to step it up a notch add a jeweled belt

This gown has combined tulle with a touch of lace - each tier is lined with lace
Aren't these gowns wonderful?? I just fall in love with them a little more each time I see them! But, I have saved the best detail for the last. Modern Trousseau will monogram each bride's new initials and wedding date into the lining of her dress in their signature Modern Trousseau blue! How wonderful is that?! As we all know, Southern girls love their monograms...and now you can monogram your wedding dress! Fabulous!

Have a fabulous day and don't forget to call to book your appointment for our upcoming Lea Ann Belter trunk show June 17-25!

As always, much love,

This one's for your girls!

Hello friends, I am so glad that it's Wednesday! Wednesdays are always fun - you are halfway through the week and you are anticipating the weekend, just wondering what fun and exciting things await you. I don't know about you, but when I am imagining my fabulous weekend plans, I see myself in a darling cocktail dress wearing a pair of killer Louboutins and sipping a sparkling glass of champagne. Granted, my real life doesn't exactly match up with my dreams, but that's ok! Back to that fabulous little cocktail dress...

In my day to day life, I spend a lot of time looking at bridesmaid dresses, some good, some bad and some just sinfully bad! But, when you start looking through the good dresses, you can actually find some hidden gems that would be perfect for that Saturday night out on the town! Now I know what you are thinking right now...there is no such thing as a "good" bridesmaid dress let alone one that I would wear again!! I know, I know, that concept was the underlying foundation of 27 Dresses and any other movie about weddings - "it's so cute you can shorten it and wear it again"! No one believes that idea - I have even been guilty of leaving a dress or two at the hotel after the wedding because I didn't need to ever see it again! But let me tell you, there are some darling bridesmaid dresses out there that even the most skeptical 'maid would fall in love with!

Here are a few of my favorites...

This dress is universally flattering - and the sash adds a bit of whimsey

This one shoulder dress is absolutely darling - I adore the bow on the shoulder

I love this simple cocktail dress from Priscilla of Boston - and how much do you love it in yellow?!

This is a great long dress option, it will work on all body types as well as for  a pregnant 'maid

Another classically beautiful cocktail dress from Priscilla of Boston

I love the use of cole in this dress, and the straps are ideal for girls with...girls!

This is another great long dress option from Priscilla of Boston - I see it at an 8:00 black tie ceremony

How cute is this little number! Perfect for a summer affair

What do you think? I promised to find great bridesmaid dresses, and I believe these fit the bill. Now, there has been a shift from the long dress to the short dress in the last couple of years. Personally I think that short dresses are so much prettier, but they have their own set of issues. You must specify the type of shoes that your 'maids wear and make sure that no one wears a sandal of any kind. There is nothing worse than having a girl flip and flop her way down the aisle! Also, you might want to mention to your friends that they might want to just think about a spray tan or using self tanning lotion. Not to be a bridezilla, but simply because white legs sticking out from under the cocktail dress isn't all that pretty. And who knows, if you have a small wedding party, that could be something you could treat your girls to 2-3 days before the wedding!

As for the long dress, they are definitely more appropriate at some types of weddings. I would recommend wearing a long dress for a black tie wedding, it just looks a bit more formal. And with a long dress, there is a bit more room for camouflage if you have a girl that is self-conscious about her size or is pregnant!

As you can see, there are some great options for bridesmaid dresses that won't cause your friends to think back thoughts about you on your wedding day! And let's be honest, as the bride, you should really want the dresses you pick to be cute and pretty and fit well - you are the one that has to look at those pictures for the rest of your life!

Have a fabulous day and dream about your weekend...

Much love,

Head over Heels in love!

Hello friends! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Let's get this week started off with some gorgeous goodies! I know that dresses are discussed quite a bit on this blog, as are other fun detail such as veils and headpieces. Now, for a post on my most favorite accessory in the world - shoes! As I look through previous posts, I can't believe that I haven't talked about bridal footwear!

There are two different schools of thought when it comes to the shoes a bride wears on her wedding day. One of those is the very traditional, simple white shoe that blends into the background and lets the dress be the star. This group is appalled at the thought of a bride wearing a colored shoe on her wedding day. Why would she do that, they wonder. No one will ever look at her face or her dress, they will just stare at her shoes! I think this group thinks along the same lines as the people who will only consider white flowers for the bride's bouquet. Lets make everything blend, so when people look at the bride, they are able to see the big picture.  So for these brides, here are some absolutely fabulous wedding shoes!

Subtle shades of white...

These classic Kate Spade pumps are perfect for every occasion

These Manolo Blahnik wedges would be perfect for an outdoor wedding!

Channel Carrie Bradshaw in these classic Manolo Blahniks - love the pearl details!

For the daring bride, Christian Louboutin's fabulous bridal sandals with blue lining!
As these shoes prove, white doesn't mean boring!

Now for the second group of brides. The girls are all about bright pops of color! Carrie Bradshaw truly started this trend with the Something Blue Manolo Blaniks in the 2008 Sex and the City movie. So elegant, but so much fun at the same time! For these brides, the brighter the color, the better! Also, these girls would be much more open to a jewel encrusted shoe than the first group of brides. I think that the most fun combination for the the colored shoe girls is to do a cocktail or tea length wedding dress with darling colored shoes! Let your personality shine in your shoes!

Here are a few of my favorite colored shoes!

These Giuseppe Zanotti heels are perfect for a spring wedding - just a hint of color

Yellow has been a huge color in weddings this season - add a little yellow to your bridal outfit!

Truly over the top, these Christian Louboutins are absolutely spectacular!!

The jeweled strap on these Jimmy Choo sandals is just the right amount of sparkle

Want color and comfort? These Manolo Blahniks are perfect for you!
Aren't these shoes so much fun? Which one is your favorite? I think I have to go with the Christian Louboutin flower sandals! They are to die for!

Have a fabulous Tuesday and I will see you back here tomorrow!

As always, much love,

The Whimsical Bride...

Hello and happy Cinco de Mayo! Can you believe it is already May? Where in the world did the first 4 months of the year go? In honor of the true start of spring, I have decided to discuss a trend that has been making a comeback. Whimsical bridal gowns. Now, I love a simple elegant gown as much as the nest girl. However, done properly, a whimsical gown can add the wow factor that most brides are wanting on their big day!

There are a few ways to bring some whimsey into your gown. The first thing that I alway think of is doing a gown with ruffles. Ruffles are feminine and soft, and if done properly won't overpower the bride. There were quite a few ruffled dresses on the runway in New York. I think that this romantic look is here to stay.

Another great addition to a simple gown is a flower detail. Flowers can be done in many ways. You can add just a touch with a flowered bolero for the ceremony. Or, if you are daring, go for a gown that has a skirt that is covered in flowers! I love the flowered skirt, it is so young and fresh and feminine! There are quite a few designers that are designing gowns with this aesthetic, which makes it easier to find one in every budget!

Take a look at some of my favorite whimsical gowns...

I love this ruffled gown from Paloma Blanca

Another Paloma Blanca gown - gorgeous detailing

I love this Marchesa gown - truly over the top

Modern Trousseau's subtle take on ruffles is beautiful

I love all of the silk organza used in this dress

Again, an over the top version of a flowered gown

I just adore this gown

I hope that you love these gowns as much as I do! And if you just can't stop dreaming about them, then visit The Bride's Room to find the gown of your dreams! And, if you have any questions or topics that you would like to see me blog about, please post in the comments below! I want to make sure that you are getting all of the information that you could ever need!
